Brews News: Homebrewing Competition Comes To Northern Kentucky

Beer and Sweat is the largest keg-only homebrewing competition (by volume) you can find anywhere. The Drawbridge Hotel located in Ft. Mitchell, KY will be hosting the festivities. The event kicks off this Saturday at noon with the judging. It’s too late to enter kegs to be judged, but, the party begins at 5pm. The event isn’t ‘technically’ open to the ‘public.’ According to their site they want to keep it a party for homebrewers, but it’s not like there’s some secret handshake or something, so if you appreciate good homebrew come on down. It is against the law in KY to give away beer, so there is a $20 admission which also means you become a 2010 member of the Bloatarian Brewing League which is Cincinnati’s oldest and largest homebrew club. The $20 gets you access to all 250+ kegs of great tasting homebrew, so you will definitely get your fill (and if you get more than your fill, at least you’re already at a hotel :) ).

We are very excited to have entered two batches of our own homebrew. We entered our St. Peter’s Gate Imperial Stout which we have made on a few occasions and have come to love. We also entered a new recipe of an American Wheat. Hopefully we can bring home a W! Come check it out. Cheers!
